“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an ass of yourself.”
― Oscar Wilde
FREEDOM OF SPEECH –
whether it be a lie – or the truth – is protected!
When someone impedes my freedom of speech – or even my freedom to tell the truth it pisses me off!
How would you feel if you were asked to bear false witness?
How would you feel if you were called a liar?
I will leave everyone with this thought –
“If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.”
― George Orwell
Starbucks pissed you off that much, eh?
Two excellent quotes from two of my favorite thinkers – we truly are blessed in the States – thanks for the reminder…
No not Starbucks really…I know they buckled to govt pressure

The Wilde “quote” is a false quotation! Wilde never said it. Like many “quotes” these days, it has been attributed to a great man to give it more impact. Whoever actually wrote it was satirizing another famous false quote, this one attributed to Voltaire: “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”. In fact, that was written by Evelyn Beatrice Hall in her biography “The Friends of Voltaire”, published 6 years after Wilde died.
You are awesome! Thanks for the clarification… Internet quotes…!
